Lizzy - Class Sampling

Around 3pm today, I was able to head to Ormond Beach and get my two samples from the ocean water. I arrived just after a rainstorm and you can see from the pictures the sky was still very dark and it ended up being during a lower tide time.
I believe the rain and weather conditions may have caused a change in my samples. I am very interested to analyze these samples in the lab! I am interested to see how the rainy, windy, and chilly weather, as well as the heavy cloud coverage can affect sampling results and data.

  1. Lizzy--next week's OCE1001 lecture will be about ocean water salinity. You might want to take a peak at that info to see what the average salinity of seawater is and to see if possibly the rain diluted it to be less than average...maybe even hyposaline.
