Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to go out and make any new recordings with the hydrophone this week. I sorted through some of the recordings that I have stored on my computer and put a few of them into a short video that I'm hoping will work here on the blog. There's not really anything super interesting in the recordings but I wanted to share them anyways so that you guys can get an idea of the stuff that I've been picking up. As for the video itself, I had intended to include some photos and videos I shot when out recording but my new memory card reader has yet to come in the mail. Blame the postal service for the boring video! haha

Michelle--I LOVED this!! GREAT JOB!! I also wonder--I keep hearing the same clickingsnapping noises throughout all three recordings..somewhere in the back of my mind (and my mind goes waaaayyyyy back ;-) I seem to think I remember that barnacles make clicking/snapping sounds as they do those opening/closing movements that they do. Is it possible that this if the majority of the sound you are hearing? Especially since you are always recording on structures that house them. Paul and I also seem to think you've got other sounds too--that would likely be more interesting to you if you knew what they were...something for sure squeaked! What was that???
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA, who needs coffee when they can be snapped wide awake by this? I thought something was wrong with my speakers so I turned them all the way up and put my ear right up to them since the recording was playing but I couldn't hear anything at first. Did the hydrophone not pick up any sounds the first 11 seconds or the noise didn't start until that point?
